Bee Hummingbird
We will get a chance to see the world’s smallest bird!
We have the unique privilege of offering an expedition to Cuba in partnership with the Caribbean Conservation Trust. In addition to seeing exciting endemic birds, we will support their work to conserve habitats for endemic and migratory birds in the Caribbean. We will interact with local scientists and naturalists and learn about the ecology of many regions around the island, all while having a look into fascinating aspects of Cuban culture, history, and daily living.
Our trip will include many habitats and regions from the forests of Las Terrazas to Cuba’s Western Mountains, the diverse wetlands of the Zapata Peninsula, Cuba’s Atlantic Archipelago, the lush valleys and foothills of the Sierra de Escambray Mountains. Bare-legged Owl, Cuban Oriole, Bee Hummingbird, Blue-headed Quail-Dove, Cuban Green Woodpecker, Cuban Pygmy-Owl, Cuban Solitaire, Cuban Tody, Cuban Trogon, and Gundlach’s Hawk are just a fraction of the endemic birds we may see.
